OPINION: BY JEFFREY A. FRIEDBERG
WELL, SHUT SHEPHERD SMITH; BECAUSE, TO MOI, THIS SOUNDS A LOT LIKE ARSON:
FROM “an observer on the scene in France, Maxime Lépante:”
One of my friends sent me an email concerning the security on the roof of Notre-Dame. She has a diploma in Art History and studied in the “Ecole du Louvre” (“Louvre School”, where students learn art history and restoration processes):
“I visited the framing of Notre Dame with architects of the ‘Bâtiments de France (‘Buildings of France’, the highest rank for an architect in France), some years ago.
“This 13th century timber frame was extremely protected. Each intervention is always accompanied by historians, architects, experts; no work is envisaged without extreme caution; no source of heat, no torch, no electrical apparatus is allowed; a high-performance alarm system is in place; and very strict supervision of all people allowed there.
“I think we will eventually learn that this was arson.”
It’s no secret that upwards of some 14 Christian churches have recently been vandalized or otherwise desecrated in France.
It does seem to be a secret WHO might be doing it, because French “officials” say they can’t seem to figure out any motive or culprits. Although the French police are not stupid.
Oh, okay, maybe one little “Muslim migrant” was reportedly arrested but he has been declared by “officials” as “mentally ill,” not really responsible—NO ISLAM HERE—and France is still officially “in the dark,” as to motive, actioneers, and etc.
Kids—there’s only one “religion” I read about, whose Holy Book apparently tells them how to proceed toward world domination.
There’s only one “religion”—we are told—that might drive its practitioners to the reported state of vehement “vandalism” and raw destruction. Of course, we are told, they would be “misinterpreting” their true religion. A “religion of peace.”
Hmmm…I wonder, therefore, what “Religion” or apparent group of religionists might actually be involved in these reported church attacks across France.
…Although commentators have been reluctant to attach a particular religious or cultural origin to the profanations, they all share an evident anti-Christian character.
In recent months, anti-Semitic gangs have desecrated Jewish cemeteries, signing their actions with swastikas….
Hmmmmm…well…it doesn’t appear to have been perpetrated by Christians or Jews. Who does that leave?
Let’s take another look at this:
A dozen Catholic churches have been desecrated across France over the period of one week in an egregious case of anti-Christian vandalism.
The recent spate of church profanation has puzzled both police and ecclesiastical leaders, who have mostly remained silent as the violations have spread up and down France.
Last Sunday, marauders set fire to the church of Saint-Sulpice — one of Paris’ largest and most important churches — shortly after the twelve-o’clock Mass.
Police have concluded that the fire was the result of arson and are now looking for possible suspects. The restoration of the church from the damage caused by the fire will reportedly cost several hundred million euros.
In Nimes (department of the Gard), near the border with Spain, the church of Notre-Dame des Enfants was desecrated in a particularly odious way, with vandals painting a cross with human excrement, looting the main altar and the tabernacle, and stealing the consecrated hosts, which were discovered later among piles of garbage.
Likewise, the church of Notre-Dame in Dijon, in the east of the country, suffered the sacking of the high altar and the hosts were also taken from the tabernacle, scattered on the ground, and trampled.
In Lavaur, in the southern department of the Tarn, the village church was assaulted by young men, who twisted one arm of a representation of the crucified Christ to make it appear that he was making an obscene gesture.
In the peripheries of Paris, in the department of Yvelines, several churches have suffered profanation of varying importance, in Maisons-Laffitte and in Houilles.
Although commentators have been reluctant to attach a particular religious or cultural origin to the profanations, they all share an evident anti-Christian character.
In recent months, anti-Semitic gangs have desecrated Jewish cemeteries, signing their actions with swastikas. In the case of the desecration of Catholic churches, the vandalism has spoken for itself: ridicule of the figure of Christ on the cross and desecration of major altars.
The Catholic hierarchy has kept silent about the episodes, limited themselves to highlighting that anti-Christian threat and expressing hope that politicians and police will get to the bottom of the crimes.
Reports indicate that 80 percent of the desecration of places of worship in France concerns Christian churches and in the year 2018 this meant the profanation of an average of two Christian churches per day in France, even though these actions rarely make the headlines.
What religions or religionists are there who might be guilty? Maybe it really was those pesky Jews, acting under cover of cemetery-desecration which they did themselves? Everyone “knows” Jews are inordinately “devious” and “demonic.”
Or, maybe those self-martyring, Colosseum-Bound Christians again?
But, what about those shifty Buddhists, or Hindus? The Amish again, or Mennonites, Shakers, Native Americans with their “Great Spirit,” or—maybe even the fricking Japs again, like back in World War II?
Trump did it? The Boy scouts? The NRA? Gun Owners did it? Cher?
Naahhhhhhh… makes no sense that way….
What about this: I know this sounds crazy, but let’s get out on that limb and see where the leaves may fall, okay—I know right?
Kids, I—for one—would not want to be Twittered or Facebooked or CNN’d, or Shepherd-Smithed, as maybe being “Islamophobic,” whatever that is.
But, in my opinion, in view of evidence on hand, the fire at Notre Dam sounds like arson. There were reportedly no workers or heat sources near the 13th Century timber frame. We are told there would have been a surge of experts and conservationists on hand to assure no fire even smoldered. We are advised French officials might not say who did it—even if they knew.
The only perpetrator actually caught who seems to have maybe been involved in the surging trend of church vandalism and desecration appears to have been “a Muslim migrant.”
Are ALL Muslims guilty? No. Is ALL of Islam responsible? No. Is it the result of Shariah law? No.
Was a Muslim caught? Yes.
Could it be Muslims? One was caught and charged.
I’ve said, I don’t think Trump did it. I don’t think it was the NRA, James Woods, AWR Hawkins, or that actor from Midnight Cowboy. I don’t want to repeat myself. Not too often, anyway.
Islamic State warns of future attack on fire-ravaged Notre Dame: ‘Wait for the next’
I don’t know who actually did it. If I knew for sure, I would tell you. I’d say it.
However, if we wait—in this particular TV Game Of Blame—I think a clear truth will eventually be stated.
Because—as with Jussie Smollett and the Chicago Police (which I Called EXACTLY! ) —too many powerful people are being called incompetent; too many are being blamed; too many are under the microscope.
They maybe already KNOW—or will know, who did it. And they would not like being blamed for something they didn’t do.
And, maybe, the Truth Will Come Out—إن شاء الله
